This book contains valuable information for family caregivers, including strategies for incorporating self-care, tips for advocating for your loved one, and ways to build a caregiving team using strengths, resources, and personality traits of all members. Rayna also emphasizes the importance of making the most of the time with your loved one, even if they may not be as they once were. Even though there will undoubtedly be challenging times, she helps caregivers understand the value of cherishing the memories and moments of joy.

I strongly recommend No Regrets for anyone who is a caregiver or who desires to support caregivers. This book shares heartwarming caregiver experiences and practical steps at the same time. I love the easy to read layout of the book. I’m a caregiver and I understand what it takes to care for a parent at home. If I had access to this book at the beginning of my journey, it would have saved me time, money and heartache. This is a must-have book because there is a high likelihood that most of us will either need a caregiver or be a caregiver before our life journey ends.

I have never thought I could take care of my mom, if she should need me to, before she dies. But after reading Rayna’s book, she inspired me to at least try so I would have no regrets when my mom is gone. Besides all the tips she gives on caretaking a loved one, the second part of the book is full of ideas for caring for ourselves too. Be sure to grab a tissue as you read about the trials and struggles Rayna went through in caring for her Dad, you might need it.

The deep reality is one day your parents will likely need caring for.

As you age so do your loved ones. Caring for an elderly parent or ailing loved one is not an easy task, but it can be one of the most fulfilling things a person will ever do. No Regrets: Hope for Your Caregiving Season shares Rayna Neises personal heart-warming stories and practical suggestions for journeying through one’s caregiving season.

In No Regrets caregivers learn how to:

  • Navigate the toughest decisions about caring for their loved one
  • Take care of their loved ones needs and not neglect their own in the process
  • Find joy in caring for their aging parent or ailing loved one
  • Go through this season of caring with no regrets

The healthy integration of caring for an aging loved one requires being able to walk them all the way to the end of their life while still having a life to walk back into. No Regrets helps caregivers to consider how being intentional in their season of caring allows them to care for their loved ones well while at the same time not losing themselves.

There is finality that’s coming as you walk with them to the end, but there doesn’t have to be hopelessness in it all. Everyone ages, and you will reach the end of your life someday, and that’s okay.

There can be joy, hope, and love in the midst of this journey.

What people are saying about No Regrets

The perfect blend of insight, understanding and practical guidance, Rayna Neises brings hope and wisdom to anyone caring for a parent. “No Regrets” is so incredibly valuable because it focuses on what matters most to every caregiver…the ability to look back on the journey you’ve walked as a caregiver to your parent and being able to say you have no regrets. Yes, there will be heartaches. By reading this book and learning from its rich stories, you will begin to exchange your heartaches for hope and memories to forever cherish.

As Rayna’s pastor I had a front row seat to the story that inspired this book. I watched with both admiration and helplessness. I admired her determined care for her father. Yet I felt helpless to provide guidance in this situation that went beyond my own experience and knowledge. I remember wishing I had a resource to assist her and me. Now I have that resource in her book “No Regrets: Hope for Your Caregiving Season.”

“No Regrets: Hope for Your Caregiving Season” is the book I’ve needed for many years, and a resource I will share widely with people under my care. Rayna combines her own experience, the wisdom of others, and the message of Jesus Christ to tell the weary caregiver, “There is always hope.” That’s the message I want to put in the hands of those I counsel.

Rayna writes early on, “Caring is not a one-size-fits-all situation.” What follows is not a step-by-step plan. Rather, Rayna addresses the many worlds that comprise the caregiver’s universe and provides wisdom that empowers action. This is a book that cares for caregivers and will be an invaluable tool for my pastoral ministry.

Rayna’s ability to share in words her journey of caregiving is like hearing the stories in person as they were occurring. You feel the emotion, the heartache and indescribable and unconditional love she has the capacity to give as a daughter, a sister, a wife and caregiver.
